The meeting will take place at the Headquarters of the French «Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales » (CNES) :

The Place Maurice Quentin is located in the 1st district of Paris, at the crossing between Rue du Pont Neuf and Rue Berger.

You can find maps of Paris on the Web, for example at : http://www.proloc.com

 

How to get there :  

The best way is to use the subway or buses. Informations are available at :

http://www.ratp.fr. Note that you can get a free very good map of Paris by asking for a «grand plan de Paris» at any subway station.

The subway lines which stop nearby the meeting place are 1, 4, 7, 11 14 and regional subway A, B and D.

Many bus lines stop nearby, such as lines 21, 38, 47, 67, 69, 70, 72, 74, 75, 76, 81, 85.

If you stay in Paris a week, you can by weekly passes (carte orange hebdomadaire) valid from Monday morning to Sunday evening. You can buy them in any subway station. In that case, do not forget to bring an ID picture with you. Look at the informations on the www.ratp.fr web site.

How to get to Par is   

By Train 

Paris has several train stations, from where you can take the subway or the bus.  
Informations on subway and buses are available from http://www.ratp.fr

You will arrive at :   

Paris-Nord if you arrive from the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, 
and some parts of Germany.  

Paris-Est if you arrive from some other parts of Germany  

Paris-Lyon if you arrive from Switzerland, Italy  

Paris-Montparnasse if you arrive from Portugal and some parts of Spain  

Paris-Austerlitz if you arrive from other parts of Spain

   

By plaine

You will arrive either at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or at Orly (ORY).

You can get informations on both airports from http://www.adp.fr

To get from the Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris :

There are 2 terminals, 1 and 2. All Air France flights arrive at Terminal 2, 
the other flights arrive at both terminals, depending on the airline.  

Taxis : a trip costs between 250 and 350 FF.  

Airport shuttle : costs 120 FF per person (90/person if you are 2 or more). You need to make a reservation, either through the Web (www.airportshuttle.fr),
by email (ashuttle@club-internet.fr) or by phone (+33 1 45 38 55 72). When
 you arrive at the airport, you need to call them toll-free at 0800 50 56 10,
and tell them where you are. You can also contact Parishuttle (www.parishuttle.com), they provide a similar service.


Regional Subway (RER):  

  • If you arrive at terminal 1, you need to take a shuttle bus to the RER 
    station. You will find the bus stop at the lower level of the terminal at the 
    shops level.  

  •  If you arrive at terminal 2, follow the signs « RER ».  

    At the RER station, buy a ticket for Paris (currently 49 FF), and take the train to Paris (note : it stops at the «Les Halles »station, very close to the meeting place). Do not lose your ticket, you will need it to exit the subway or to take a subway connection.

    There subway runs approximately every 15 minutes, and you need about 1 hour to get to the city center.  

Bus (recommended if you arrive at terminal 1) : There are 2 buses 
lines, the
departure points are indicated in the arrival halls :  

  • Roissybus, run by RATP (www.ratp.fr) :   This bus goes directly to the 
    Opera (8th district). It works from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every 15 minutes. The price is 48 FF. At the Opera Roissybus station, you can take the subway or buses.

  • Air France buses (www.airfrance.fr) : Lines 2 and 4 go from the airport to Paris :

    - Line 2 : the buses reach the «Porte Maillot » and «Etoile » (stop is located 1, Avenue Carnot) stations every 12 minutes. The trip costs 65FF. 
    From the Etoile station, you can take subways or buses.

    - Line 4 : the buses go to «Gare de Lyon » (stop is located Boulevard Diderot) and «Gare Montparnasse » (stop is located rue du Commandant Mouchotte . These buses run every 15 minutes, the  trip costs 75 FF.

  To get from the Orly airport to Paris :

Orly has 2 terminals, Sud and Ouest. International flights arrive at Orly-Sud, domestic ones at Orly-Ouest.

Taxis : The trip costs between 200 and 250 FF.  

Airport shuttle : costs 120 FF per person (90/person if you are 2 or more). 
You need to make an advance reservation, either through the Web (www.airportshuttle.fr), by email (ashuttle@club-internet.fr) or by phone 
(+33 1 45 38 55 72). When you arrive at the airport, you need to call them toll-free at 0800 50 56 10, and tell them where you are. You can also contact Parishuttle (www.parishuttle.com), they provide a similar service.  

Regional Subway (RER): You need to take first the « Orlyval » subway,
which stops at the « Antony », and change to line B of the RER, which
stops at several stations in Paris. The trip costs 57 FF, details can be
found at www.ratp.fr.  

Bus :

  • Orlybus, run by RATP (www.ratp.fr) :   This bus goes directly to the Denfert-Rochereau station (14th district). It works from 6:00 a.m. to 
    11:00 p.m. every 12 minutes. The price is 35 FF. At the  Orlybus
     station in Paris , you can take the subway or buses.

  • Air France buses (www.airfrance.fr) : The buses reach the «Montparnasse » station every 12 minutes. The trip costs 50FF.
     From the bus station, you can take subways or buses.  

  • Bus 183A : this bus goes from Orly-Sud only to Porte de Choisy every 30 minutes, the trip costs 24 FF, look at www.ratp.fr for details.

 

A few hotels in Paris

The indicated price is only for information, you need to check the current prices yourself either on the Web or by calling directly the hotels.

  The meeting place is located in the 1st district, which is right in the center of Paris in the « Chatelet-Les Halles » quarter. If you want an hotel within walking distance of the meeting, it is better to check the hotel location on a map. You can find maps for example at http://www.proloc.com, or there is a quite detailed map in the subway Web site http://www.ratp.fr.
